WHO THIS IS FOR
You were doing fine. Then something set you off, and now you're not.
It might have been a breakup, or a job that fell through, or a moment where you got angrier than the situation called for and it scared you a little. Or nothing happened at all and you just don't feel like yourself, and you'd rather not look too closely at why.
Most of the young men I work with did not grow up with much practice at saying what is going on inside them. Not because they can't, but because nobody asked, or because the one time they tried it did not go well. So it stays in, and it comes out sideways: as irritation, as shutting down, as the thing you do at 1 a.m. that you are not proud of.
I have worked with young men for years, and I will tell you what I tell them. I am not going to make you talk about your childhood before you are ready. I am also not going to let you off the hook. Something in your life is asking for a different move, and we are going to figure out what that move is and practice it until it feels like yours.
What we would actually do
We start with whatever is in front of you: the argument, the job, the thing you keep avoiding. We work backwards from there to what is driving it. Some of that is talking. Some of it is trying things out, like saying the thing you have never said to your father, in a room where nothing is on the line, so that you know you can. I am direct, and I have a big laugh, and I will be honest with you, kindly.
Practical: Individual sessions are 50 minutes and $250. In person in Downtown Brooklyn or by video anywhere in New York State.
Start with fifteen minutes.
A short call, no charge, and no obligation to book anything after it. Tell me roughly what is going on and I'll tell you honestly whether I am the right person for it.
